Meet the Barrera & Company Team
Damian J. Esparza
Mr. Esparza is the owner of Barrera & Co, a family-owned real estate firm specializing in reserve studies and financial reports for HOAs. He is a member of Community Associations Institute (CAI) and California Association of Community Managers (CACM) and has presented on ‘How to Develop Smarter Reserve Plans’ and ‘Utilizing Reserves to Develop Sustainable Strategies.’ Mr. Esparza previously served on the CACM Affiliate Council Committee and San Diego Chapter of the California Legislative Action Committee for CAI.
Prior to working in real estate, Mr. Esparza worked for several investment banks in San Francisco. He began his career in the mail room of a Hollywood talent and literary agency. In college, he served as a congressional intern.
Mr. Esparza serves on numerous non-profit committees and boards. He graduated from Boston College with a degree in Philosophy and currently lives in San Diego with his wife Danielle, son Oliver, and dog Harlow. He enjoys fishing, surfing, triathlons, and traveling.
Christopher A. Sanders
Christopher Sanders is President at Barrera & Company. He began his career at the Company in 1990. In 1992 he was promoted to Assistant Director of Operations, in 1993 to Vice President, and in 2001 to President. Mr. Sanders has assisted in the evaluation and findings for the State Attorney General’s office in regards to the designated Reserve Study Reports and DRE Budget Reports. He has also served as a panel member for the televised CID programming series, developed to assist Homeowners in making sound budgeting decisions.
Mr. Macario Avalos has been a Reserve Analysis Inspector and Analyst with Barrera & Company since 2005. Since joining the Barrera & Company Team Mr. Avalos has assisted over 1000 Homeowner Associations with review and preparation of their Reserve Budgets. Prior to joining Barrera and Company’s team he worked as a Project Manager in commercial real estate development with Brad S. Bailey Company. As well, Mr. Avalos interned as an apprentice to the CEO of Brad S. Bailey Company. Mr. Avalos graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University with a major in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance/Entrepreneurship.
Mr. Matt Gallagher is currently a Reserve Analyst at Barrera & Company where he has held the position since September of 2007. Matt has completed over 3,500 individual reserve analyses for associations throughout California, Hawaii and Oregon. Prior to joining Barrera in 2007 he worked as an Association Portfolio Manager for Capitol Property Management in Chantilly, VA. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Housing and Resource Management and a Minor in Real Estate from Virginia Tech.
A graduate of CSU Sacramento with a degree in Business and Operations Management, Rich comes to Barrera and Co. with 12 years of experience in the construction industry through multiple disciplines. A numbers guy at heart, Rich has been a cornerstone of the cost estimating and project management functions of large multi-family repair projects with several general contractors and subcontractors throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. He has also played a major role in the development and continuous improvement of processes and estimating systems. When not working, you can find Rich spending time with his two young sons, cooking, grilling, or performing music.
Beth is a native born and raised Southern Californian from Orange County. She has specialized in customer service over the past 10 years. Prior to Barrera and Company, Beth worked at Mitchell International as a Customer Implementation Coordinator helping onboard its clients. She brings a wealth of experience to help Barrera onboard its clients and provide the best customer experience in the industry. In her spare time she enjoys reading, theatrical arts, animation, and spending time with the loves of her life, her fiancée Charles and their children Robin and Ray.
Daniel Leczinsky currently specializes in component evaluation and maintenance recommendations for Plumbing and HVAC Mechanical systems. He has over 15 years of experience working with residential high-rise condominiums from new building installations to servicing and maintaining the equipment. Since 2008 he has worked as a technician and account manager for national companies including BTM HVAC, California Comfort Systems, Caremura Plumbing Systems, and most recently XYG Plumbing Services. Prior to working in the service side of the industry, Daniel was responsible for the installation of Plumbing and HVAC equipment of new construction for William Kelly & Sons Mechanical Contractors. Daniel has also assisted in destructive testing for SB 800 litigation working with legal counsel for both HOAs and developers.
